February 19 begins the 2012 National Engineers Week. This year’s theme is “7 billion people. 7 billion dreams. 7 billion chances for engineers to turn dreams into reality.” According to the Eweek website, Engineers Week celebrates the positive contributions engineers make to society and is a catalyst for outreach across the country to kids and adults alike.
Tau Beta Pi encourages you to take part in Eweek 2012 to help somebody discover engineering.

This week the UW-Milwaukee College of Engineering and Applied Sciences hosted a seminar on nuclear engineering. The coverage of the seminar by the Journal Sentinel says that “the nuclear power industry is looking to expand in the coming years.” This is good news for nuclear engineering students at UW-Milwaukee.

Boeing plans to send 69 engineer-volunteers into five different schools in the Everett School District (WA) to make 39 presentations as part of the upcoming Eweek. The Boeing engineers will go into middle and high schools “to encourage and promote engineering and technical careers.”
One volunteer’s message “encourages creative students with problem solving skills to go make a difference in the world as engineers.” Click here for more coverage
