Celebrating Eweek: Introduce A Girl to Engineering Day

February 23rd is Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day 2012. The National Engineers Week Foundation has posted activities taking place across the country rallying around this event.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering has announced that Carol Cayo, WI D 2012, has been named Capital One Academic All-America of the Year for Division III women’s basketball. MSOE is the first school to have back-to-back recipients of this award. Last year, Austin Meier, WI D 2012, was selected as the Academic All-America of the Year for men’s basketball.

Cayo is a senior, industrial engineering major, and corresponding secretary of the WI Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. She is “a two-time first-team All-Northern Athletic Conference honoree, Cayo also became the first player in league history to reach 1,000 rebounds for a career earlier this season. The three-time first-team Academic All-District selection is the MSOE’s and the NAC’s all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots.” Click here for the news announcement

A partnership between the Western Kentucky University Engineering faculty and staff and the KY Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at WKU, will host the 12th annual Kentucky Bluegrass LEGO Robotics Competition Saturday, February 25. This year’s competition challenges teams of elementary and middle school students to “build autonomous robots from LEGO Mindstorm kits to navigate a curving track modeled after the Beech Bend amusement park.” For more information, read the press release
