The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced two recipients of the Alan T. Waterman Award. MIT associate professor Dr. Scott Aaronson and Harvard associate professor Dr. Robert J. Wood are the winners of the NSF’s most prestigious honor, recognizing “an outstanding researcher under the age of 35 in any field of science or engineering that the NSF supports.”

Dr. Aaronson is a professor of electrical engineering and computer science. Dr. Wood is a professor of electrical engineering. Click here, to visit the home page of the Alan T. Waterman Award.

Dr. Galen Suppes, KS G ’85, a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Missouri, is developing “a new car battery that he believes will be the breakthrough needed to put more electric cars on the highway.” Read the full article

Dr. Suppes has been researching the “convection battery” since 2008 through funding from the National Science Foundation. His new battery “has a pump that helps reactant flow faster between the two sides of the battery,” which produces more power output.

Reddit has announced that Yishan Wong is the new CEO of the social news website. Wong has previously worked as a software engineer at Facebook and an engineering manager at PayPal. For more information, read the article from Forbes
