The University of Iowa and Provost P. Barry Butler, IA B ’79, have announced that interim dean of the UI College of Engineering has been named the new dean. Dr. Alec B. Scranton, IA B ’85, is a chemical engineering professor at IU, current interim dean, and future dean of the college of engineering. Read the AP announcement

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program has announced the 2012 Goldwater Scholars and Honorable Mentions. Click here to see the full list by state. “The purpose of the Goldwater Foundation is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intent to pursue careers in these fields.”

Tau Beta Pi will determine which 2012 Goldwater Scholars are Tau Bates and make an announcement on the Association home page.

According to this press release, Dr. Clayton R. Paul’s new book, “Transmission Lines in Digital Systems for EMC Practitioners,” has been added to Market Research Reports – Research and Markets offerings.

Dr. Paul, GA A ’63, is professor and Sam Nunn Eminent Chair in Aerospace Engineering at Mercer University. His new book “is a comprehensive covering (of) the set of EMC skills that EMC practitioners today require in order to be successful in high-speed, digital electronics.”
