John H. Scudder, NY U 2012, has been presented a “Tomorrow’s Leader” award by the Aviation Week. Scudder is a mechanical engineering major and cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After graduation, he plans on attending flight school at Ft. Rucker (AL) and becoming a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army. Read the article from the Appleton Post Crescent

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently reported on the growing trend of colleges and universities making basic computer science a required course. Georgia Tech and Montclair State University are both cited as universities that require students to have a computer science credit in order to graduate.

In the article, the author questions whether this requirement meets the need for students to understand how to undertake “work that gets a computer to work beyond its basic feature set.”

Real Estate Weekly has announced that Eastern Consolidated has hired two new associates, both of whom were former business owners. One of the new hires is Olivia Wu, KY B ’95, as associate director. She is the founder and president of Berkeley Global, a commercial real estate brokerage firm.
