The Ames Tribune is reporting that Iowa State University has named Dr. Jon A Wickert, CA A ’85, as the next provost at ISU. Dr. Wickert will assume his new position as senior vice president and provost beginning on July 30.
Currently, he is dean of Iowa State University’s College of Engineering. A position he has held since 2009. Dr. Wickert earned all of his degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Read the article

Jackie Blanchard has been battling bone cancer and was too sick from a recent chemotherapy treatment to attend the May 3 commencement ceremony. This week, 70 family members, friends, the UMaine women’s basketball head coach, and several players took part in the awarding of her civil engineering degree.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association has announced eight students that will be honored during Spring 2012 commencement ceremonies as Outstanding Graduates. Stephen H. Davis, LA D 2012, will be representing the College of Engineering. Davis is a petroleum engineering major and president of the local student chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He will begin a position with Chevron as a drilling engineer after graduation.
