Medill Reports, the publication of the Medill School of Northwestern University, featured Dr. Keith E. Tyo, WV A 2001, for his work “applying synthetic biology – genetically reprogramming cells – to combat global health crises such as malaria.”
The article includes a Q&A with information about a recent grant Dr. Tyo received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in support of his work. Dr. Tyo is an assistant professor at Northwestern University. He received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from West Virginia University.

Dr. Zafar Taqvi, TX E ’69, recently received the Outstanding Member of the Year Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at their Region 5 conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Dr. Taqvi works at the Johnson Space Center and has taught at the University of Houston System. Click here for the news article
