The Journal Sentinel (WI) is reporting that Dr. Brett A. Peters, AR A ’87, has been named as the new dean of the College of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Currently, Dr. Peters is a professor of engineering at Texas A&M University, where he headed the industrial and systems engineering department from 2002 to 2011.

This week the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams were announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Three Tau Bates were chosen as first team All-America: Franz Bernstein, (VT A 2012) as a member of the University of Vermont Ski team & majoring in engineering management; Cody Deacon, (CO Z 2012) as a member of the swim team at the U.S. Air Force & an aeronautical engineering major; and Caitlin Patterson, (VT A 2012) as a member of the University of Vermont Ski team & a civil engineering major. In a recent press release, Schiavone Construction Co. LLC announced the first place finish of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Steel Bridge Team at the regional Student Steel Bridge Competition.
The team of engineering students, led by Dr. John Schuring, P.E. (NJ A ’74) professor of engineering at NJIT, now heads to the national championships of the Steel Bridge Competition to be held at Clemson University. For the seventh consecutive year, the NJIT team is sponsored by Schiavone.
