The Executive Council of Tau Beta Pi recently approved the appointment of two new District Directors. Neal T. Bussett, CA X 2009, is a new District 16 Director. He is currently a systems engineer at Northrop Grumman, an advisor to the Tau Beta Pi California Xi chapter, and will be responsible for the southern California TBP chapters.

George K. Miyata, WA D 2010, is a new District 12 Director. He works for Northrop Grumman as a systems engineer, an advisor to the Colorado Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, and will be responsible for chapters in southern Colorado and Montana.

An engineering professor and doctoral graduate student from the University of Southern California recently published an article in the journal Frontiers in Neurorobotics “showing that a specially designed robot can outperform humans in identifying a wide range of natural materials according to their textures.”
Jeremy A. Fishel, Ph.D. (CA Q ’05), is co-author of the article and director of research and a founding partner in SynTouch LLC, a company that develops and manufactures tactile sensors for mechatronic systems that mimic the human hand. The Cache Valley Daily (UT) reported on the winner of the 2011-2012 University Student Launch Project rocketry challenge hosted by NASA. A team of engineering students from Utah State University took home first place, the team from the University of Louisville won the Rookie Award, and Florida A&M University won the Altitude Award “for launching a rocket reaching the altitude closet to one mile above ground level.” Click here for the article
