This week, Virginia Commonwealth University announced the selection of Barbara D. Boyan, Ph.D., as the new dean of the VCU School of Engineering. She will begin her new position on January 1, 2013.
Currently, Dr. Boyan is associate dean for research and innovation at the Georgia Tech College of Engineering. She is also a professor of biomedical engineering at Tech an Emory University. Read the news release

Rothrock, TX D ’77, has been a venture capitalist for more than two decades. He started his career as a nuclear engineer and still has a passion for engineering and building companies.

The NCAA recently announced the top 30 honorees for the NCAA Woman of the Year. The group is “composed of 10 honorees from each NCAA division and spans various NCAA sports. Three finalists will be chosen from each division to form the finalists for the award.”
Carol M. Cayo Smith, WI D 2012, was named as one of the 30 honorees eligible to be named a finalist. She is a 2012 industrial engineering graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering where she was a standout athlete in basketball, tennis, and outdoor track and field, in addition to maintaining high academic standing.
