The New Jersey Beta chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Rutgers University, recently hosted a MindSET activity session on rocketry with the Woodbridge Middle School. Twelve students from the school that plan on competing in the annual New Jersey Future City Contest participated in the hands-on activity session that focused on the science of rockets and about conservation of momentum.

The Virginian-Pilot reported on the recent enshrinement of aeronautics engineer Richard T. Whitcomb, MA A ’43, into the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Whitcomb passed away in 2009 at the age of 88. He is being recognized “as the most influential aeronautical researcher of his time, his revolutionary concepts include the Area Rule, Supercritical Airfoil, and Winglets that enable aircraft to fly faster, farther and with less fuel.” Click here for more information from the National Aviation Hall of Fame
