Tufts University has announced a gift from the James S. McDonnell Family Foundation to fund an endowed chair at the School of Engineering. In addition, the gift will be used to “support the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach to expand research into educational technologies to help children in grades K-12 learn engineering and technology concepts.” Read more here

Houston, TX, based Ultra Petroleum recently announced a donation to the University of Wyoming to fund research aimed at extracting energy resources from unconventional reservoirs. Monte Ahuja, a Cleveland entrepreneur and philanthropist, has donated funds to Ohio State University (OSU) “to support students and create and endowed chair at the College of Engineering.” Ahuja received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from OSU. He founded Transtar Industries and is currently chairman and CEO of Mura Holdings, LLC.

Dr. David B. Williams, OH G ’70, is the dean of engineering at OSU and will be appointed to the Monte Ahuja Endowed Dean’s Chair and will use the funds to grow and develop the engineering programs. Read the article
