The University of Virginia is profiling students from the class of 2013. Caroline C. Hackett, VA A 2013, is graduating this month with a degree in civil and environmental engineering. After graduation, she will work on a humanitarian and civic assistance mission with the U.S. Navy in Samoa, Tonga, and the Marshall Islands.
“This usually is something for doctors, nurses and dentists, but they also bring some engineers on board,” said Hackett. As part of the Pacific Partnership, she will “work with the SeaBees, the Navy’s construction arm, on projects such as building systems for harvesting rainwater or environmentally managing waste.” Read the news article for more details of Hackett’s trip and her previous international projects

Tyler A. Green, KY A 2013, was recently profiled on the official blog of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association. Green is a senior majoring in computer engineering and is described as “a renaissance man in the making.” The blog post highlights Green’s many talents, hobbies, and involvement at the University of Kentucky (UK).
One of his passions is visiting sports stadiums across the country. During a recent internship he created a website for people to track their stadium visits. “I had always traveled and watched sports with my family, but having a personal hobby such as visiting stadiums, as well as having an engineering focus with the website behind it, really caused my interest to take off,” said Green.
