Tau Beta Pi remembers Douglas M. Green who passed away on September 29, 2013, at the age of 71 due to end-stage liver disease. Green, Ph.D., P.E. (TX B ’65), was dean of the Marquette University College of Engineering (1999-2003) and most recently served as dean of academic program planning and development at Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Green was also a leader of Tau Beta Pi, serving as president of the Association (1998-2002) and as a chief advisor to the New York Tau and Maryland Alpha collegiate chapters. Click here to read the obituary

Royce O. Bowden, Ph.D. (MS A ’84), has been named dean of Wichita State University’s College of Engineering. He will begin this position on January 16, 2014. Currently, Dr. Bowden is an engineering professor and associate dean for academic affairs at Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University. He has also served as head of the department of industrial and systems engineering and briefly served as interim dean of engineering at MSU. Read the news announcement

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) recently honored Ernest B. Gardow, Ph.D., P.E. (CT G ’56), posthumously with the Distinguished Examination Service Award for “dedicated service to the development and improvement of NCEES licensing exams.” Dr. Gardow “was a leader and prolific contributor to engineering licensure exam development for almost 40 years, first for the state of Connecticut and then NCEES.” For more information, read the news release
