The Seattle Times recently profiled efforts by the University of Washington (UW) College of Engineering to increase its female engineering faculty. The College was boosted by a National Science Foundation grant, but has continued many of the programs since the grant ended in 2007. The article gives examples, such as Eve A. Riskin, Ph.D. (MA B ’84), UW professor of engineering and associate dean for academic affairs. Dr Riskin began teaching at UW in 1990. Another example is assistant professor Kat M. Steele, Ph.D. (CO A ’07), who recently joined the faculty after completing her Ph.D.
