The Rhodes Trust has announced the 2014 class of American Rhodes Scholars. This year, thirty-two American men and women were chosen as Rhodes Scholars from a pool of 208 finalists. Two of this year’s Rhodes Scholars are Tau Beta Pi members. Read the press release and profiles on all of the American Rhodes Scholars-elect for 2014.
1. Melissa L. McCoy (GA Alpha 2012) – graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in chemical engineering and intends to
do the M.Sc. by research in environmental chemical engineering at Oxford.
2. Drew A. Birrenkott (WI Alpha 2013) – a senior majoring in biomedical engineering, biochemistry, and political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with plans to do the M.Phil. in development studies at Oxford.

On the official student blog for civil and environmental engineering at Lehigh University, Kathryn N. Hooven, PA A 2016, wrote an entry about her recent initiation into the Pennsylvania Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Hooven is a senior double majoring in civil engineering and architecture, she is a commuter student, played club rugby, and is vice president of the school’s steel bridge team.
