The Tau Beta Pi Chapter at the University of Mississippi (MS Beta) is co-hosting “Share the Hope,” a Christmas benefit for Doors of Hope Transition Ministries, Oxford Mississippi’s only house and self-sufficiency program for homeless families. The event will take place on Friday, December 13, at Soulshine Pizza beginning 7pm.

Logan R. Maxwell, NC A 2013, is a researcher at North Carolina State University and a recent graduate with a degree in chemical engineering. For his senior design project he developed a prototype of a coffee mug “that will keep your coffee hot–but not too hot– for hours at a time.”
Together with another engineer, Maxwell has launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance an initial production run of Temperfect mugs made by the Joveo company. Read the article for more about the research and development of the mugs

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) recently hosted a Standards Association Awards ceremony to recognize the recipients of the 2013 IEEE Educational Activities Board Awards. Gerald “Jerry” Peterson, WA A ’66, received the Educational Activities and Standards Association (EA/SA) “for visionary development of e-learning modules on technical standards enhancing the knowledge and skills of students, academics, and engineering programs.”
