The GM Foundation would like to encourage eligible students to apply for the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program. According to the website, there will be 100 renewable scholarships of up to $25,000 awarded per year. Applicants must be “high school seniors or graduates or be current undergraduate students (that) plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study for the entire 2014-15 academic year, and plan to major in a specified course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology or select Design and Business-related programs of study.”

The Democrat and Chronicle (NY) reported on the recent State of the State address by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in which he outlined a plan that “would provide the top 10 percent of high school graduates who are pursuing STEM degrees full scholarships to attend any school in the State University of New York or City University of New York systems. The recipients also would have to agree to work in the state of New York for five years.”
The exact details of the proposal have not been made public, but Governor Cuomo’s support of STEM education was positively received by those interviewed for the article. Read more
