Michele J. Grimm, Ph.D. (MD A ’90), was recently profiled by the Wayne State University College of Engineering for her efforts related to teaching and promoting STEM. Currently, she is the undergraduate program chair and associate professor in the department of biomedical engineering at Wayne. In addition, she is the chief advisor to the Michigan Epsilon Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Wayne.
In the article, she is described as being “one of Michigan’s most active and successful science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) supporters and advocates.” More biographical information is available in the article, including Dr. Grimm’s passion for teaching: “I love getting students and prospective students to think about how engineering is used to solve real-world problems. I want them to understand that engineering projects can be used to clean the environment, save lives and create better products.”

The Ohio Mu Chapter of Tau Beta Pi with the Wright State University – College of Engineering and Computer Science recently hosted a “pie in the face” fundraiser during Engineers Week 2014. The successful event is on full display on the College’s Facebook page with images and video.

Elections for the Kansas State University Engineering Student Council will take place soon and Andrew W. Woolley, KS G 2015, is running for a first-term as a student senator. Woolley will be a senior majoring in chemical engineering at KSU. You can read his brief bio here
