The largest class of Tau Beta Pi Scholars has been announced with a total of 242 scholarships awarded. This year the Association received 451 applications for the 2014-15 class of scholars. Marvin E. Criswell, Ph.D., P.E., has been selected as the 2014 Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Advisor. Dr. Criswell, NE A ’65, is professor emeritus of engineering at Colorado State University (CSU). He is currently a chapter advisor to the Colorado Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at CSU and spent two decades as CO D chief advisor. The ninth Tau Beta Pi McDonald Mentor is Brendan J. O’Toole, Ph.D., (NV B ’86). Dr. O’Toole is a professor of mechanical engineering and director of both the Center for Materials and Structures and the Mendenhall Innovation Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He was cited in the press release as being a tireless mentor in several organizations, to extremely successful FIRST Robotics teams, and to more than 80 individual or team undergraduate student projects.
