Lorenzo M. Smith, Ph.D. (MI Q ’91), has been appointed dean of Sacramento State’s College of Engineering and Computer Science, effective August 1. Currently, Dr. Smith is the associate dean and professor at the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Oakland University (MI). He earned his doctorate in engineering mechanics from Michigan State University. Read the announcement

Executive Director of Tau Beta Pi Curt Gomulinski, MI E ’01, reached an impressive milestone this month while traveling home from Michigan. He visited his 99th, 100th, and 101st Tau Beta Pi collegiate chapter campus. Lucky number 100 was Indiana Gamma at the University of Notre Dame. Below are a few images from his visits.

A press release from the University of Oklahoma, announced the plans of the dean of the College of Earth and Energy to retire June 15, 2015. Larry R. Grillot, Ph.D. (OK A ’68), has led the College for eight years, and through its inception. Previously, he worked for 30 years in leadership positions with Phillips Petroleum.

“Since the college was created, Dr. Grillot has worked to maintain the heritage of geosciences and petroleum and geological engineering in the areas of energy education (oil and gas), while providing strong ties to engineering fundamentals and the science base in geology and geophysics.”
