The Citizen-Times (NC) recently reported that Aaron Taylor Baldwin, IN D 2014, has been awarded a full fellowship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, conducting nuclear fission, and nuclear security research. Baldwin graduated earlier this year from Valparaiso University (Valpo) with a degree in electrical engineering.
At Valpo, he performed high-level research, received the Herman Hesse Outstanding Freshman Engineering Student Award, a 2013 Tau Beta Pi (TBP) Scholarship, the Valparaiso University Board of Directors scholarship, and was treasurer of the Indiana Delta Chapter of TBP. He also spent two summers interning with the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. and was the 2010 valedictorian at AC Reynolds High (NC). Read more

The Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) has announced a new merit-based scholarship. The United Planet Merit Scholarship of $500 will be awarded to one inducted student member of each of the ACHS societies per calendar year. “United Planet realizes that global social responsibility comes with global leadership and seeks to empower the best and brightest students with the global skills and perspectives to act as leaders beyond borders of all kinds.”
The application deadline for the fall semester scholarships are due May 1, 2015, and spring semester applications are due October 1, 2015. More details can be found here and applications can be completed by visiting this website.
