Steven D. Daines, MT A ’84, is the United States Senator-elect for Montana after winning the November 2 election with 58% of the vote. Daines has been the United States Representative for Montana’s at-large congressional district since 2013. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Montana State University. He spent thirteen years in a management role for Procter & Gamble and spent time with a Bozeman software company as VP of Customer Service. On Sunday, November 9, the Ohio Iota Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Ohio Northern University (ONU) held its fall initiation. The chapter initiated 14 new members, including eminent engineer Michael Hsin-Wen Chow, P.E. (OH I 1992), who spoke at the post-initiation banquet. Chow is owner of Metro CD Engineering, LLC, which he founded in 2004. He was one of the first LEED Accredited Professionals, received the 2007-08 ONU Distinguished Young Alumni Award, and is actively involved in the “green community” as a former member of the U.S. Green Building Council. Professor and Dean of Honours College at the University of Macau (UM) Kai Meng Mok, Ph.D. (WA A ’86), was recently a keynote speaker at the first ever TEDx even in Macau, China. Dr. Mok received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D., degrees in civil engineering at the University of Washington. “His main research interest includes fundamental fluid mechanics, coastal hydrodynamics, and air and water quality. He is also the author/co-author of over one hundred publications and is in charge of the Hydraulics Laboratory in UM.”
