The Chronicle of Higher Education recently profiled JoAnn P. Browning, Ph.D., P.E., the dean of the University of Texas at San Antonio’s College of Engineering. She was appointed to this position in August having previously served as an engineering professor and associate dean of administration at the University of Kansas.
One of Dr. Browning’s, KY A ’95, goals is to help correct the disparity of bachelor’s degrees in engineering awarded to women. “There are talented females out there who would make great engineers, and we have to communicate that to them,” Dr. Browning said. The local chapters of the Society of Women Engineers and Tau Beta Pi at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities will host a “Red, White and Bass” event at the Riverview Gallery in the Weisman Art Museum on Saturday, November 15.
