The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLN) engineer Scott A. Couture, VA B ’82, with a Meritorious Civilian Service award “for his work as principal adviser for nucelear plans and policies to the Under Secretary of the Air Force.” The award was presented to Couture during a Lab ceremony on October 24.
“It was a privilege and honor to work for the Air Force and an opportunity of a lifetime,” Couture said. Couture works in LLNL’s Weapons and Complex Integration Principal Directorate (WCI) and was selected as the principal adviser to the Under Secretary of the Air Force for nuclear matters in 2012 and served in that capacity from May 2012 until May 2014. Mark W. Killgore, P.E. (WA G ’78), submitted images to the Tau Beta Pi Washington, DC, Facebook group from the recent tour of the Goddard Space Center led by Russ L. Werneth, MD B ’64. Werneth is a retired NASA aerospace engineer and served as the ExtraVehicular Activity Manager for the Hubble Space Telescope Project. He also received a College of Engineering Centennial Award from the University of Maryland, “an honor bestowed to their top 100 engineering graduates.”
