Scholarships, Chapters, & Initiation Events

The Association is now accepting applications for the 2015-16 academic year Scholarship Program. Tau Beta Pi members that will be undergraduate students in 2015-16 are eligible to apply. The Scholarships awards are $2,000 each for full-year of study and $1,000 each for partial or one semester. This year the Association anticipates awarding about 250 scholarships.

The Arkansas Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at the University of Arkansas, recently celebrated the 100-year anniversary of its installation in conjunction with fall initiation. Ten collegiate students were initiated along with Kevin D. Hall, Ph.D.,P.E., (AR A ’86), executive director of the Mack-Blackwell Rural Transportation Center and UA civil engineering department head.

In addition, this month AR Alpha announced eleven scholarship recipients for spring 2015 as part of the Ray L. Belknap Class of 1919 Tau Beta Pi Scholarship program. In total, $12,575 was awarded to student chapter members “based on their service to the organization.” Click here to see the full list of recipients and to read more about the scholarship awarded “for general academic funding, materials and supplies for design projects, and travel to design competitions.”

Friday, January 16, is the fall initiation for the California Nu Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at California State Poly. University, Pomona, and the chapter will be hosting a “Trivia With Industry” event beginning at 6:30 PM. The event will have a networking opportunity, trivia game with prizes, and food. This is a great opportunity to network with industry representatives from a number of large engineering corporations from all engineering disciplines. The event dress code is business so make sure to dress to impress!
