UCLA has announced the selection of Jayathi Y. Murthy, Ph.D., as the next dean of UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science. Currently, Dr. Murthy is chair and professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. She will begin her new position on January 1, 2016, when she “succeeds Dean Vijay K. Dhir, Ph.D. (CA E ’68), who is returning to the faculty after leading UCLA Engineering since 2002.” Read the news announcement

Roger L. Paulsen, ND A ’90, has joined MtronPTI’s Spectrum Control Engineering Group as a prinicpal staff engineer according to an announcement from the LCGL Group, Inc. He previously was a senior RF engineer at Cobham Avionics. Paulsen earned his electrical engineering bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University. Click here for the press release

Mike Howard, MtronPTI’s vice president of spectrum control engineering, said, “We’re delighted that Roger has joined our design group. He has worked with several of the major companies in RF design and implementation, including Honeywell, General Dynamics and Cobham. He also has extensive experience with tunable filters and will immediately strengthen our position in that market.”

Recent mechanical engineering graduate, Matthew J. Theiss, CA Mu 2014, has been hired as a design engineer for Apex Tactical Specialties (CA). His undergraduate work was completed at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
