Jill S. Tietjen, P.E. (VA A ’76), has been selected as the first chief executive officer of the National Women’s Hall of Fame (NY). Tietjen has attended every Hall of Fame induction ceremony since 1994 and began serving on the board in 2009. She has been serving as President of the Board of Directors at the Hall, since 2014. She began serving as CEO on January 1, 2015.
“We are delighted to have Jill as the Hall’s CEO,” Jeanne Giovannini added. “Her extensive professional achievements and background in raising awareness of women’s accomplishments, as well as her working knowledge of Hall operations, will ensure that the Hall’s mission is carried on successfully as the Center for Great Women.” Tietjen will play a key role in the Hall’s campaign to renovate the former Seneca Knitting Mill building into its new home. On February 14, the annual Polar Plunge took place at Lake Snowden. This year the Ohio Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Ohio University, sponsored six of its members to participate. Georgia Tech has announced a seminar entitled “Optimal Design of Micro-Architected Materials” by Lorenzo Valdevit, Ph.D. (CA T ’00). Dr. Valdevit is an associate professor at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) where his primary research goal “is the optimal design, additive manufacturing and experimental characterization of micro-architected materials with superior combination of properties.” He is also the chief advisor to the California Tau Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at UCI.
