The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Virginia Tech invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position, which is part of a College of Engineering cluster hire initiative in the area of advanced manufacturing. Review of applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor will begin on March 6, 2015. The Delaware Engineering Society has named R. David Charles, P.E. (DE A ’78), as the 2015 Delaware Engineer of the Year. Charles is a principal at Duffield Associates where he played an “integral role in the recent I-495 bridge repair.” He was selected by his peers for this honor based on his professionalism and his long career as a respected engineer in Delaware.

In his 33 years at Duffield Associates, Charles has held a variety of positions including field engineer, project geotechnical engineer, project manager and department head of the geotechnical and construction departments. He served as chief executive officer from 1996 until 2011 while maintaining a technical role as a senior geotechnical engineer. Charles earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering and geotechnical engineering from the University of Delaware. Click here to read the article for more biographical details

Holli L. Rosdail, CA N 2015, is a senior electrical engineering major at California State University, Pomona, where she is also CA Nu TBP Chapter President. “With the desire to encourage fellow female classmates, Holli came up with the idea of facilitating a Cal Poly Pomona STEMinist movement by creating a ‘steminist’ scholarship.” To raise money and fund the scholarship, she is selling STEMinist t-shirts to promote, encourage, and support women in the STEM fields.
