Read the article about the determination and persistence of Ellen L. Money, TN Z 2013. She is currently employed as a design civil engineer in Dam Safety Engineering at TVA, however just a few years ago she was five years out of high school and married with one child. She entered the 2+2 Program through Chattanooga State’s Engineering Technology and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to fulfill a lifelong interest in bridges by earning a degree in civil engineering.
She graduated in the top 15 percent of her class, attaining Dean’s List and earning academic honors through Phi Theta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi. Now her husband Jeremy has returned to college to pursue a chemical engineering degree through the same 2+2 Program.

Ted D. Sussman, Ph.D. (VA A ’81), and Hugh Thompson will present “Railway Track Subgrade Performance” at Penn State University, Altoona, on Friday, March 20. Both Sussman and Thompson are from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration. Sussman’s “research has focused on inspection technologies to characterize materials and evaluate the influence on safety.” For more information, click here
