Student-Athletes & Pi Mile Run, April 2015

It has been a busy month for Howard University (HU) senior Mohamed A. Bouzaghrane, DC A 2015. Earlier this month at the HU Bison Blue Carpet Awards hosted by the department of intercollegiate athletics to honor its student-athletes, Bouzaghrane earned the men’s swimming MVP and highest GPA awards (his fourth straight highest male GPA honor) and was also the winner of the “newly created Athletic Director’s award for overall success as a true Howard student-athlete and for being accepted into the top 10 graduate programs in the nation for civil engineering.”

In addition, he was recently named the Tau Beta Pi Nagel #18 Fellow for the 2015-16 class of Fellows. Bouzaghrane will graduate in May and conclude his year as the president of the DC Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. He was also awarded a TBP Scholarship in 2014.

The New Jersey Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Stevens Institute of Technology, is hosting a Pi Mile Run on Saturday, April 25, in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. So shake off the winter cobwebs from your sneakers for this 5k and help raise money for research towards a cure for Alzheimer’s. It starts on Pier A and finishes with food and prizes. The event registration also covers the cost of a Pi Mile t-shirt! Proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association as part of the philanthropy of the NJ Alpha Chapter. Tickets are available for $27, discounted to students for $15 (in-person purchase only). Visit the event Facebook page for more details and to register

Saeed K. Jones, NC E 2015, has been chosen as the MEAC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week “after his performance at the Aggie Invitational. Jones won the 800 & 1500 meter races.” Jones will graduate next month with a degree in civil engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, holds the school record in the cross-country 10k, and is the NC Epsilon Chapter President of Tau Beta Pi.
