Glenn H. Balbus – MD A 2016, a mechanical engineering junior at the Johns Hopkins University and first team All-American; he has spent three seasons on the men’s fencing team as is the current team captain, is the only DIII fencer to earn Academic All-America honors this year, and earned a silver medal at the MACFA Championship.
David J. Evans – NJ A 2015, a recent graduate from Stevens Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering and first team All-American; he helped lead this year’s men’s volleyball team to the school’s first national championship, was named AVCA Player of the Year, and served as the vice president of the New Jersey Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi last year.

Lauren Bailey – NY K 2015, a chemical engineering recent graduate from the University of Rochester and first team All-American; she was a four-year letter winner of the women’s swimming and diving team, earned two All-American honors this season (for a career total of six), was a second team Academic All-America last year, and was named the Liberty League Swimmer of the Year from her sophomore through her senior year.
Margaret G. Guo – MA B 2016, an electrical & computer science & engineering junior at MIT and first team All-American; she is a member of the women’s swimming and diving team, was the recipient of the NCAA Elite 89 Award, is a two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference award winner, and received All-America honorable mention honors at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
Caitlin Mackey – MA B 2015, a graduate of MIT with a degree in mechanical engineering and first team All-American; she was co-captain of the field hockey team, was placed on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) New England East all-region second team, was a 2014 TBP Scholar, and will begin working for SpaceX.

South Dakota State University (SDSU) recently profiled two engineering graduates that were named 2015-16 Tau Beta Pi Fellows. Ryan R. Mahutga, SD B 2015, and Megan M. Waytashek, SD B 2015, will both attend the University of Minnesota in the fall for graduate study. Mahutga will pursue a doctorate in biomedical engineering and Waytashek will pursue a master’s in mechanical engineering. Read the news article
Mahutga maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout college, had three minors (sustainable energy systems, mathematics, & business), and was also a 2014 TBP Scholar and served during the past academic year as vice president of the SD Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Waytashek is a four-year letter winner in basketball, was chosen as a second team Capital One Academic All-American this spring, received a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, and served two academic years as the recording secretary for the SD Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
