Jill M. Hruby, IN A ’81, has been named the next president and director of Sandia National Laboratories. According to the news release, Hrbuy will be the first woman to lead a national security laboratory, and the largest national lab, when she begins her new role on July 17, 2015. A Sandia staff member and manager for the past 32 years, Hruby most recently served as a vice president overseeing Sandia efforts in nuclear, biological and chemical security; homeland security; counterterrorism; and energy security.
“Leading Sandia is a tremendous responsibility because of its importance to the security of our nation and the phenomenal engineering and scientific talent here,” Hruby said.

In what was an impressive final year of undergraduate education, David M. Zoltowski (MI A 2015), has now been recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Student Engineer of the Year by the Engineering Society of Detroit. Zoltowski recently graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University. He will study this fall at the University of Cambridge (UK) as a Churchill Scholar in pursuit of a master of philosophy in information engineering.
