The Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Track & Field and Cross Country teams have been announced. Rebecca A. Esselstein, CO Z 2015, was selected as the 2014-15 Academic All-American of the Year for Division I women’s track & field and cross country. Read the award announcement from CoSIDA.
She is a recent astronautical engineering graduate from the United States Air Force Academy (CO). She is a Rhodes Scholar, a recipient of the Marshall Scholarship, and was named the top cadet academically, among the Academy’s 840 graduates. Esselstein is the first Air Force athlete to ever receive this prestigious honor. Read the Academy’s press release.

In a recent blog post from Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp., Jennifer Saucier-Sawyer, Ph.D. (ME A ’04), was profiled for the SOLIDWORKS Women in Engineering Series by none other than her sister Sarah Saucier. Jennifer recently completed her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering at Yale University. Sawyer, ME A ’04. Her advice to young engineering students is to stick it out, “Its hard work, but don’t give up if it’s something you really want to do. There are so many avenues out there where you can make a difference, and pursuing an interest in the Sciences early on can help you find your passion.”
