Dennis A. Muilenburg, IA A ’86, has been named the new CEO of Boeing. He will begin his new position today (July 1). Previously, he was vice chairman, president, and COO of The Boeing Company. Muilenburg joined the company in 1985 as an engineering intern. He has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the University of Washington. Texas Tech University tweeted this to their Twitter account this week. “This picture shows a petroleum engineering student cleaning the Tau Beta Pi marker (bent monument) in the #TexasTech Engineering Key. The tweet was accompanied by the image below of Baron Bustin, TX B ’89, shining the bent monument on the Tech campus of the Texas Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Bustin graduated in 1989 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He now works for Qarun Petroleum Company as an engineering general manager in Egypt.

One Tau Bate was recently selected for the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I men’s track & field/cross country teams. Click here for the All-America Division I first, second, and third men’s teams.

Evan KarakolisTX G 2016, is a mechanial engineering major at Rice University and first team All-American; he is a thrower on the men’s track and field team, he was a 2014 second team Academic All-American, he won three individual titles and placed fourth at the C-USA Championships this past season, and is competing this summer in the Pan American Games for Canada.
