Thomas C. Katsouleas, Ph.D. (CA D ’84), will fill the vacancy and serve as the University of Virginia’s (UVA) executive vice president and provost, beginning August 17. Currently, Dr. Katsouleas is Dean of the School of Engineering at Duke University. In addition, he will be a professor of electrical and computer engineering in the UVA Engineering School. Penn State University has named Janis P. Terpenny, Ph.D. (IA A ’81), as the Peter and Angela Dal Pezzo Department Head of the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, effective September 7, 2015. Dr. Terpenny is currently a professor and the chair of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU). In addition, she is the director of ISU’s Center of e-Design and is the technical lead of the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute’s Advanced Manufacturing Enterprise Area. Earlier this month, Stanley R. Liberty, Ph.D. (NE A ’65), assumed the position of Interim President of Bradley University (IL). Dr. Liberty previously worked at Bradley as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs (1998-2005). He retired in 2011 from Kettering University (MI), where he served for six years as the University’s President. In the news release, he was cited for being “well known throughout Peoria (IL) and the campus community. Dr. Liberty has a proven record of success and will provide Bradley with experienced leadership and stability during this transition.”
