Alumni Event, Distinguished Alumnus, & Chapter Fundraiser (August 2015)

The Research Triangle (North Carolina) Alumni Chapter of Tau Beta Pi will host a fall picnic on Sunday, September 13, at the Fred G. Bond Metro Park in Cary, North Carolina. The pot luck will take place at the Buehler Shelter. Attendees are asked to bring finger foods to share, $2 to help cover shelter rental, and ideas to discuss during the alumni chapter general meeting.

Friends and family are welcome. This is an opportunity to meet other local TBP alumni and local TBP collegiate students. Please complete the sign-up doc or contact the chapter for more details.

Henry Curtis “Curt” Ball, TX D ’49, will be recognized as the 2015 Distinguished Alumnus of Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu, Texas. Ball graduated from Barbers Hill in the class of 1942. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University, is a decorated veteran of WWII, and spent 36 years as an engineer with ExxonMobil. The California Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at the University of California, Berkeley, is hosting “Pies for Poverty” on Monday, August 31, from 11am to 2pm. All funds raised from the smoosh a pie into your professor’s face event will go to charity. Learn more about the event here, including confirmed victims: Professor John DeNero, Professor Terry Johnson, Professor Alexei Filippenko, Senator Karthik Prasad, and Senator Reia Cho.
