In September, Abraham Bers, ScD (CA A ’53), passed away at the age of 85. Bers was professor emeritus of electrical engineering at MIT. According to his obituary, he “was known both for his accomplishments in the field of plasma physics and for his contributions as a gifted educator.” In addition, Bers held numerous patents, was a frequent industry consultant, and author of several books.

Clarkson University (NY) recently appointed Natasha Kholgade Banerjee, Ph.D. (NY P ’09), as an assistant professor of computer science. She earned her Ph.D. in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University (PA) and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Rochester Institute of Technology (NY). Kevin L. Drumm, RI B 2015, was profiled by the University of Rhode Island (URI) for his undergraduate experiences traveling abroad and for receiving multiple scholarships. He graduated earlier this year from URI with a degree in mechanical engineering. He studied in Spain and Mexico with help from a Demers Fellowship and two scholarships.
