Professor Jay Jeffrey Schnitzer, MD, Ph.D. (MA A ’73), has been appointed as a Distinguished Fellow of New Westminster College in British Columbia, Canada. Currently, Dr. Schnitzer is a pediatric surgeon and director of biomedical sciences at the MITRE Corp. He previously served as the director of the defense sciences office at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and as chief medical officer and senior vice president of the Boston Scientific Corporation.

The department of biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, has multiple openings for tenured and tenure-track faculty positions of all ranks. The biomedical department is a joint department between the College of Engineering and the School of Medicine. Specific areas of interest include: nanoscale and molecular engineering, neural engineering, big data analytics and informatics, and synthetic and systems biology.

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) awarded the 2015 Benjamin Garver Lamme Award to Clive L. Dym, Ph.D. (MA Z ’62). Dr. Dym is professor emeritus of engineering at Harvey Mudd College (CA). “He was recognized for over four decades of service to engineering education through teaching, writing, and administration.” According to an article, Dr. Dym ” created the Harvey Mudd College engineering program’s formal design instruction and contributed to a hands-on studio component for the first-year projects class.”
