Interim Dean, Pumpkin Blast, & Energy/Materials Position

Ronald A. Perez, Ph.D. (WI G ’83), has been named the interim dean of the Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). Dr. Perez has been a faculty member at UWM since 1990, is currently an associate professor of mechanical engineering, and previously served as interim dean and associate dean, academic and administrative affairs of the UWM College of Engineering & Applied Science. On November 7, eight Tau Beta Pi members of the Rocket City (Huntsville, AL) Alumni Chapter attended the 2015 Pumpkin Blast on Tate Farms in Meridianville, AL. Four of these Tau Bates competed in the competition accumulating points based on the distance and accuracy of launched pumpkins. Two Tau Bates, Neal A. Allgood, AL A ’10, and Nate J. Forton, IN A ’10, were part of the winning team, “Siege the Moment.” The image below (left) is of the winning team. The second image (right) is of Tau Bates Neal Allgood and Jayme H. Allgood (Howsman), AL A ’09.

The department of mining and minerals engineering and the VCCER at Virginia Tech are accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level. The position is under the Virginia Teach and the University of Nottingham (UK) joint initiative to address the “Global Energy Trilemma.” The successful applicant is expected to play a significant leadership role in developing an internationally recognized and externally funded research program in the broad area of energy, materials, and the environment.

A Ph.D. in petroleum engineering, natural gas engineering, chemical engineering, mining engineering, geosciences or a closely related field is required. The review of applications will begin on January 18, 2016, with the intent to have the position filled before August 10, 2016.
