The American Society for Quality (ASQ) is hosting an event on Tuesday, November 24, at Kelly’s Deli Conference Center in Rockville, Maryland. The agenda includes food, networking, and “Merger and Acquisition – The Best Global Practices on IP-Related Transactions” by Poh C. Chua (DC G ’88). Chua is an attorney and partner with Lee and Hayes in DC, chief IP counsel with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co Ltd., and advisor to the DC Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at The George Washington University (his alma mater).

Tau Beta Pi is saddened to announce the passing of Donald L. Bender, Ph.D., P.E., at the age of 84. Dr. Bender, WY A ’53, dedicated himself as a professor of engineering throughout his career at Washington State College and Gonzaga University. According to his obituary, one of his proudest moments was being elected as president of Tau Beta Pi. He held this position from 1978-82.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming; a master’s from Colorado State University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, all in civil engineering.

Jared L. Newman – OH N 2016, an electrical engineering senior at Cedarville University and third team All-American. He is a four-year varsity soccer letterman as a midfielder, two-time G-MAC Academic Team, IEEE Power and Energy Society Scholar, and serves as treasurer to the OH Nu Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
