The Rocket City Alumni Chapter of Tau Beta Pi has joined the Association formerly known as the Huntsville Association of Technical Societies, to increase its visibility and interaction within the Huntsville community of tech societies. The Association is looking for volunteers on Saturday, January 16, to help judge at the Alabama Future City competition. Judging is from 8:30 am to 12:30pm with the awards being presented from 4-4:30pm. Contact the Rocket City Alumni Chapter for more information.

The Industrial Automation Engineering Scholarship program, from ASCO, began accepting applications for the 2016 period this week. “ASCO is the world’s leading manufacturer of comprehensive fluid automation solutions and will award two $5,000 scholarships to engineering students, provide $1,000 grants to their college’s engineering departments, and host the students at “The Amazing Packaging Race” at PACK EXPO International in 2016.
The deadline to apply is April 3, 2016. Learn more and apply here. The ASCO scholarship is merit-based and will be awarded on the candidate’s potential for leadership and for making a significant contribution to the industrial automation engineering profession, particularly as it relates to the application of fluid control and fluid power technologies.

Optimist International is hosting the 2016 Brain Bowl tournaments for all Colorado and Wyoming public, private, and home-schooled 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Volunteers are integral part of the success of the tournaments. Last year 216 teams consisting of 1,080 student participated and more participants are expected this year. Volunteer positions include: timers, scorekeepers, runners, and written test proctors.
