Tulane University (LA) recently announced that Nicholas J. Altiero, Ph.D. (IN G ’69), will serve as the University’s interim Provost while a search for the position is undertaken. Currently, Dr. Altiero is Dean of the Tulane School of Science and Engineering. He became the School’s inaugural Dean in 2006. Click here to read the announcement.

The Tau Beta Pi District 13 Conference took place February 5-6 in Prescott, Arizona, and was hosted by the Arizona Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. John L. Lemons, VA B ’60, has agreed to endow a gift to Virginia Tech’s Services for Students with Disabilities in the Division of Student Affairs. According to the article, the “John Lemons Enrichment Fund is intended to support current students who suffer speech impairment, including stuttering and stammering.”
Lemons graduated from Virginia Tech in 1960 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was involved as a member of the Corps of Cadets, with the VA Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu. He overcame his own speech difficulties to have a successful career that included leading four different manufacturing companies, primarily focused on the design and production of semiconductors.
