New Dean, EWeek 2016, & System Administrator Position (February 2016)

The University of Michigan (U-M) College of Engineering has announced Alec D. Gallimore, Ph.D. (NY G ’86), as the next Dean of Engineering, beginning July 2016. Dr. Gallimore will succeed David C. Munson Jr., Ph.D. (DE A ’75), who previously held the position for two terms.

Dr. Gallimore is currently an associate dean for academic affairs and holds two named professorships at U-M. He has served at U-M for 24 years. His undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering is from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY) and his Ph.D. in engineering is from Princeton University. Read the news story for more details.

Engineers Week 2016 begins on Sunday, February 21, and runs until Saturday, February 27. Many Tau Beta Pi collegiate chapters are hosting events in support of the week-long celebration. Below are details of some of the events:

Michigan Alpha (at Michigan State Univ.) – hosting a video game tournament on Monday, February 22
Michigan Beta (at Michigan Tech) – Clean snowmobile challenge, Rube Goldberg competition, and Technicolor light and music show
Michigan Epsilon (at Wayne State Univ.) – TBP Engineering Futures, alumni panel, and Meet The College Luncheon
Missouri Delta (at Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City) – Blood drive, egg drop competition, coding workshop, and more
Pennsylvania Beta (at Pennsylvania State Univ.) – Bridge building contest, women’s leadership panel, talent auditions, and more
