E-Week Profile, UVA Alumnus, & OSU Scholars

Chemical engineering student Harrison D. Martin, WV B 2017, was recently profiled by the West Virginia University Institute of Technology news as part of E-Week. Martin has been interested in chemistry and why things happen since high school. Now as a junior, he is taking the courses that will allow him to chase his dreams after graduation. He worked as an intern at chemical manufacturer Cytec (now Solvay) last summer and plans to intern for Dow Chemical this summer.

On campus, he is active with the West Virginia Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the local AIChE chapter, and as a member of the University’s first ever ChemE Car Team. Click here to read the news article

The image above is from a meeting between officers of the Virginia Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi with R. Dudley White, VA A ’76, facilitated by TBP District 4 Director Russ Werneth, MD B ’64. The students presented White and his wife (Barbara) with a pie and White shared advice and stories from his professional career at Zeta Associates. He also enjoyed reminiscing memories of his time at the University of Virginia where he earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

The community assistance given by the Wagoner Masonic Lodge of Oklahoma was recently profiled in the Wagoner Tribune. Wagoner was named the 2015 Lodge Of The Year for District 24 and has “assisted the community by helping Wagoner organizations raise nearly $29,000 through fundraisers and donations.” One of the examples of organizations that have benefited from this generosity is the Wagoner High School Mu Alpha Theta Club.

The article highlights the first two Mu Alpha Theta scholarship recipients Dylan J. Cannon, OK G ‘2017, and Max C. Kozak, OK G ‘2017, both of whom are now Tau Beta Pi members at Oklahoma State University (OSU). Cannon is a junior at OSU majoring in chemical engineering, has secured an internship with Koch Industries, and studied in France the summer of 2014. Kozak is also a chemical engineering junior at OSU, is a member of OSU’s chemical engineering car team, and will intern with Zeeco this summer.
