The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) recognized Michele Pancani, WI D 2016, as the March Leader of the Month. Pacani is a senior majoring in computer and electrical engineering at MSOE. He is originally from Como, Italy, is a four-year member of the MSOE Men’s Lacrosse Team, and is a Student Government Senator.
According to the article, he was chosen as leader of the month for “his leadership roles within these organizations including his assistant captain role on the lacrosse team and his senator position in SGA, where he has been instrumental in implementing change and addressing the needs of the student body.”

Heather L. Trantham, Ph.D., P.E. (CO D ’92), and Jason L. Hevelone, CO D ’92, met while studying engineering at Colorado State University (CSU). They both went on to become officers of the Colorado Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Today, Jason is president and inspired distiller at CopperMuse Artisan Distillery (Fort Collins, CO). Heather is a principal geotechnical engineer at Stantec.
In a recent article from the CSU Source, Jason discussed the role engineering and his wife have had on his distilling success. “An engineering degree is going to give you a foundation to launch you pretty much anywhere,” said Jason Hevelone. “Heather enables me to take this on; it’s a team effort.” After earning their respective bachelor’s degrees, Jason supported their family so that Heather could pursue and earn her master’s and doctoral degrees.

The Stanford Daily profiled the passing of Henry E. Riggs at the age of 80. During his influential career, Riggs served as Stanford University Vice President of Development, Harvey Mudd College president, and founding president of the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences. He began his teaching career at Stanford, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.
