Pioneers in Engineering (PiE) is a non-profit robotics competition run by UC Berkeley engineering students and designed to encourage interest in science, math, and engineering among Bay Area high school students. The competition was founded and is strongly supported by the CA Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. The program was founded in 2008 and led by Xiao-Yu Fu, CA A ’09, who is currently a CA Alpha Chapter advisor.
This year’s final competition will take place on the weekend of April 23-24. The current PiE director is Tommy Ogura, CA A 2017. In addition, the program is offering scholarships to high school students. The deadline to apply for the PiE Alumni Scholarship is end of day Wednesday, April 13.
