Pioneers in Engineering (PiE) is a non-profit robotics competition run by UC Berkeley engineering students and designed to encourage interest in science, math, and engineering among Bay Area high school students. The competition was founded and is strongly supported by the CA Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. The program was founded in 2008 and led by Xiao-Yu Fu, CA A ’09, who is currently a CA Alpha Chapter advisor.

This year’s final competition will take place on the weekend of April 23-24. The current PiE director is Tommy Ogura, CA A 2017. In addition, the program is offering scholarships to high school students. The deadline to apply for the PiE Alumni Scholarship is end of day Wednesday, April 13.

On April 9, the Texas Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi hosted a centennial celebration to celebrate 100 years of Tau Beta Pi at the University of Texas at Austin. The chapter was installed as the 32nd collegiate chapter of Tau Beta Pi on June 10, 1916. In attendance at the centennial celebration were TBP alumni, current students, and Association Officials. Below is an image of the cake. Visit the chapter’s Facebook page for more images from the event.

Several student organizations at the University of California, San Diego, (UCSD) were present at Triton Day an opportunity for recently admitted students to surf on the “world’s largest outdoor shake table.” Members of the CA Psi Chapter of Tau Beta Pi were on hand to share information about the Association and to meet students.
