The University of Texas at El Paso Alumni Association has announced the 2016 Top 10 Seniors award. “The award is given annually to UTEP’s most promising future alumni as they prepare to go out and pursue their careers.” Awardees were selected based on a combinations of academic achievement, involvement, and leadership. The following two outstanding seniors are Tau Bates:
Roya Edalatpour, TX Q 2016, will graduate with a degree in electrical engineering. She plans to attend medical school at Boston University, interned at Exxon Mobil, and participated in the White House Tech Inclusion Summit.
Ileana I. Rubio, TX Q 2016, will graduate with a degree in industrial engineering. She plans to pursue a master’s degree, interned at Lockheed Martin, and served as president of the Texas Theta Chapter.

On May 12, senior honors will be awarded at the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering’s annual commencement reception. The Dean’s Award for Outstanding Service which “goes to a senior who has shown remarkable leadership qualities and has also made the greatest contributions in personal service to the school” will be given to Meredith C. Huszagh, TN B 2016. Meredith is a biomedical engineering graduate, who is past president of the School of Engineering Council, and past president of the student chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society.

Two graduating seniors from the University of Mississippi were recognized by the Hotty Toddy (MS) for receiving the 2016 Marcus Elvis Taylor Memorial Medal, the University’s highest academic award.
Royal A. Gordji, MS B 2016, is majoring in general engineering and plans to attend the University of Mississippi School of Medicine after graduation. She also received the School of Engineering’s Outstanding Senior Leadership Award.
David E. Rozier III, MS B 2017, is a junior chemical engineering major who plans to pursue a career in industry upon graduation.
