According to a report from the Business Insider Google’s is in a race to develop airborne drones with Amazon. As a result, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is looking to hire aerospace experts “from guidance and navigation-control managers to computer-vision engineers.”

Click here to see a recent job listing for a software engineer, airspace management (wing), which describes the ideal candidate as someone with “an interest in airspace management practices and think(s) that flying airplanes is cooler than crashing airplanes.”

Andrew H. Rosenberger, Ph.D. (MI B ’86), was awarded the American Society for Testing and Materials International Award of Merit earlier this month. Dr. Rosenberger is an engineer with the Air Force Research Laboratory Materials and Manufacturing Directorate. The award is the highest award bestowed upon an individual member, and award recipients also receive the honorary title of ASTM fellow.
