Wendi R. Heinzelman, Ph.D. (NY D ’95), will be the next dean of the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences at the University of Rochester beginning July 1, 2016. Dr. Heinzelman will be the School’s first female dean and currently serves as dean of graduate studies for arts, sciences, and engineering, and as a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Rochester.
Her research focuses on wireless communication, networking, mobile computing, and multimedia communication. She has been recognized with the University Award for Teaching Excellence (2003), as a recipient of a NSF CAREER Award (2005), and with a ONR Young Investigator Award. In addition, she has been an advisor to the New York Kappa Chapter of Tau Beta Pi since 2015. Read the news release for all the details.

According to a press release, Lee Enterprises Consulting has added four experts to its team. John D. Forcier, P.E. (SC G ’72), has joined the “world’s larges bioenergy and biofuels consulting group and will handle biogas, anaerobic digester, wastewater and composting projects for the group.”
Forcier has more than 43 years of experience, has received the Vermont Engineer of the Year award, and was inducted into Tau Beta Pi in 1999 as an eminent engineer. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Vermont.

The University of Indianapolis has selected José R. Sánchez, Ph.D. (IL D ’00), to lead its new engineering programs. Dr. Sánchez will serve as director of UIndy’s software engineering and industrial & systems engineering degree programs. He will also serve as an associate professor of Physics and earth space science.
Previously, Dr. Sánchez was an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Bradley University (IL). He was initiated into Tau Beta Pi in 2015 as an eminent engineer and served as an advisor to the Illinois Delta Chapter from 2015-16.
